Direct mail marketers already know that direct mail works. More and more are learning that interactive mail rocks!
What is interactive mail and why does it rock? Interactive mail incorporates QR codes (Quick Response) to direct the reader to a video, personal landing page or provide other unique personalized information. The reader's smartphone scans the code and provides the dynamic interative content to more fully engage the recipient.
Variable data printing software such as Jet Letter's PSL PageBuilder suite can easily create QR codes on the fly and incorporate them into personalized printed communications to create a fully interactive experience. This capability allows the QR code to direct the recipient to a personlized landing page. The QR code can also be unsed to deliver a video message to further engage the recipient. It can provide personalized contact information such as a vCard.
The possibilities are endless which is why interactive mail rocks!
Simple Implementation Practices
To insure the recipient successfully scans the QR code we recommend that the direct mailer,
- Keep the URL or QR code message as short as possible. While QR codes are designed to contain substantial amounts of information the average smartphone with their varying optics have a much better chance of successfully scanning less information rather than more. Use a URL shortenting service such as tinyurl.com or others.
- Print your QR code black on white with white space around the image. This helps the smartphone identify and accurately read the QR code immediately directing the recipient to the interactive message.
- Directions. More and more smartphone users are accessing QR codes daily and already know how to engage them. However by providing a brief description of the offer contained in the QR code and directions as to how to access it will increase your success.
- Direct readers to a website that is optimized for mobile. Mobile websites download quickly to provide engaging informative content.
